Cams.com Launches New Player, Foreign Language Support

PALO ALTO, Calif. — Cams.com, a division of FriendFinder, has released a new flash version of its proprietary media player. The updated player features three different video screen sizes and displays quicker feeds.

“The player’s settings have been completely optimized resulting in a faster frame rate,” said Legendary Lars, president of Steamray Inc., Cams.com’s parent company. “We also added the option of displaying the video stream in three different sizes to create a more customized experience for the user.”

Cams.com also has added animated icons to enhance the chat experience. The chat layout and size now can be adjusted according to the user’s preferences.

“We introduced the new media player to our affiliates last week in beta to work out all the bugs,” Lars said. “They reported a 15-20 percent increase in sales just in that short period. This filters down to the affiliates’ bottom line because their free signups are converting into paid members.”

These changes are part of a larger effort by the company to maximize conversions and increase overall customer satisfaction. Cams.com releases new banners, iFrame plugins, splash pages and galleries continuously.

For French, Dutch and Spanish speakers, Cams.com has added sites in those languages to maximize foreign traffic, along with billing support.

“Many of these changes were implemented due to a combination of customer suggestions and internal development,” Lars said. “We always listen to our affiliates and users.”

In March, FriendFinder and Steamray hired Harvey Kaplan to develop its mobile presence. Kaplan previously helped launch AEBN’s mobile division, Xobile.
